Seasons Change / Penny Whistle
From Plank Road Publishingby Teresa Jennings
The sound of the haunting penny whistle has found its way to popularity again. Teresa Jennings has created two songs that feature it prominently, and the results are stunning. We are making both songs available in a money-saving "two-fer" kit with full rights to photocopy them for your students.
Partner songs are wonderful tools for entering into the realm of part-singing with young singers. In Seasons Change, there are two distinctive melodies which are sung separately at first, and then together. It is set in a gentle folk style, and both melodies are memorable and easy to teach. It is an ideal back-to-school song, and it works year-round in a variety of grades. (from Music K-8, Vol. 9, No. 1)
Penny Whistle conjures up the spirit of old English folk songs and Medieval drones, inspiring thoughts of faraway places, perhaps long ago. On our recording, we have included guitars, mandolin, and a variety of unusual and ethnic percussion, synthesizers, and of course, penny whistles. And it is the penny whistles that add the special magic. Wonderfully played by Jim Farrelly, the penny whistle solos and countermelodies make this richly orchestrated recording one that you and your students won't soon forget.
