God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen - Choral
From Plank Road Publishingadapted/arr Teresa Jennings
This old English carol dates back to the 16th century at least, yet it is still one of the best-known and most beloved carols we sing today. And while we would love to tell you what Teresa plans to do with her new arrangement of it, the fact is, as of this writing, it is yet a figment of her imagination. However, we can guess that whatever she does, it won't be traditional, ordinary, or even what you might expect. What we can tell you is that, based on the success of some of her other unique choral arrangements like "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and "Jolly Old Canon In D," we're pretty sure your choir is going to enjoy singing this one, too. We do also know that while she plans to write it primarily for 3-part mixed voicing, allowing older, changing, and changed voices an opportunity to shine, it will likely also be designed to work as a 2-part piece as well. That way it will also be usable with smaller or more limited choirs. Sound excerpt available this summer
