Variations On An Old Appalachian Game Tune (Four In A Boat)

From Plank Road Publishing

arr. Paul Jennings

The song "Four In A Boat" was originally a gentle circle tune. We've taken that great old game song and created a set of three variations around it. The first variation is a nice statement of the tune, played legato by the recorders. The second variation is a lot of fun, and it's the ideal way to practice staccatos. The work ends with a majestic finale in a fast tempo, but the recorders play the melody in longer notes. It uses the notes D,E,G,A,B,C,D'. (from Music K-8, Vol. 24, No. 5)

(Run time: 2:10; 2:16)
