I put up a bulletin board in the hallway of my afternoon school each March... MIOSM! I like interactive bulletin boards, so I came up with this one this year:
It says, "Music Is Instrumental." The background is white and the board is an instrumental border. I have gold instrument cutouts decorating the bulletin board. And... in the middle... I have a different riddle each day. If the students can tell me the answer to the riddle at the end of music, they get one jelly bean.
It is really fun to see all the students AND TEACHERS standing in the hallway trying to figure out what instrument the riddle is talking about. The big kids read to the little ones, and everyone keeps a secret. If you blab... then no prize!
I found a bunch of music riddles in a book another teacher loaned me, and then I made up some of my own.
