American Flag Using Students Handprints

Submitted by Debbie Fonner, Lisbon, Ohio

Idea posted November 15, 2006

With the help of the art teacher, we were able to make a huge flag using the students' hand prints in white paint. First, they placed both of their hands in white paint and put their prints on blue paper (for the stars of the flag). Then, they put white hand prints on red strips of paper for the stripes. We had each student sign their name by their hand so they could find it after the concert and take it home.

We hung this huge flag on the wall for parents to view at our music concert.
