Song For Grandparents Day, A
From Plank Road Publishingby John Riggio
Here's a song for grandparents, to be sung by their grandchildren, specifically for National Grandparents Day (which falls in September every year). If your school has an assembly where students get to honor grandparents on their special day, this is a great choice for a musical number. The lyrics are clearly heartfelt.
Kids could hand out flowers to their grandparents one at a time as the song progresses. You could also take advantage of the instrumental bars at the end of the song to hold up letters that spell "We Love You Grandma & Grandpa" or other similar sentiments. You could even sing the song, then just play the instrumental track as a backdrop for a longer presentation. You may not have a dry eye in the house. (from Music K-8, Vol. 23, No. 1)
