Recorder Karate has been SOOOO successful with my music program that I'd like to incorporate the same general idea for vocal assessment and motivation. I wouldn't want to call it Singing Karate, though, because that's too similar, but use some other activity that has reward levels, either another martial arts or even (*gasp**!!!) a video game. Basic level would be being able to sing do-mi-sol-la, or something like that, in pitch with piano, all the way up to something very challenging a capella, depending on the grade level.

I think it would be a great motivator to get kids to enjoy singing more, just like Recorder Karate was a great motivator for getting kids into playing.
