Yes, I have used the Quaver unit as well as adding my own activities. I
especially like the string experiment, where students step on one end of a
piece of yarn (I used red heart from Walmart) and wrap the other around a
finger until taut. Then, they hold the finger to the tragus (triangle
cartilage on outside of ear) and pluck the taut string, sending the
vibrations directly into the ear. We talk about how sounds waves travel and
how different types of strings (materials) produce different types of
sounds. I used this as a segue into tone and timbre conversations. So much
fun!
