I have personally had a lot of success with those cubes from the Dollar Tree -- they're made out of hard foam, and you can write anything on the dry-erase circles on each side.
I draw quarter, eighth, half, and whole notes, and the students get in groups of about 4-5. They call another student's name (in the same group), toss the cube to that person, and that student has to say which note their THUMB landed on.
It can get a little exciting with multiple groups. You could have the students sit and roll the cube. This can be modified to almost anything you're learning -- dynamics, tempo, rhythm, solfege, etc.

The middle display is a reference for performance ensembles. A few years ago I discovered that most 3rd-5th grade didn't know what to call a group of four performers, so I wanted to have something to remind them of the groupings.
