Our elementary music department saved up for a year or so and we have one class set of headsets for each elementary building. Kids are encouraged to bring their own earbuds if they prefer them. :)

Ooh, yeah, I'm with Sarah on this, the thought of earbud sharing...ugh.
Headphones for sure, much easier to clean.
