I'm so glad Stephanie posted about this because I'm hoping to do something=
almost relatednext year with my two feeder elementaryschools. Whil=
e we have a district chorus opportunity for my middle school students (All =
County Chorus, an auditioned group which meets about 3-4 times before prese=
nting a concert directed by a guest conductor), there's nothing similar for=
our elementary students.
I'm hoping to structure our rehearsals/performance on a similar model- a fe=
w weeknight rehearsals to rehearsecombined ES pieces and at least one gr=
oup piece which involves the ES students and my own MS students. Each ES ch=
oir would also prepare 1-2 pieces to present. Instead of hiring a guest cli=
nician, I'd want to work with the ES students myself (so they'llsign up =
for myclass!!!) and/or trade off with the ES teachers.
Has anyone done anything similar at any level? Do you have suggestions? Adv=
ice? Repertoire ideas?
