A Bouncing Baby Bunny

by Teresa & Paul Jennings

This simple and light tune is perfect for spring and/or Easter performances. It's written with your youngest singers in mind and offers the opportunity for some real cuteness. It's a bit of a story about a bunny who doesn't just hop, he bounces! (If your bunny is a girl, change "he" to "she" throughout.) A costumed star bunny could steal the show with choreographed or freestyle bouncing in selected spots during the song (such as during the second time at measure 5 when the winds take over the melody). There are a few spoken lines that can be added, too. We have included some suggestions on the music, but you can use your own ideas.

The instrumentation on this is pretty nice. There is a neat clarinet choir (which you will be able to hear better on the instrumental version). The brass are all muted, and the bass is an acoustic upright, giving it just the right texture and drive.
