P-u-n-x-s-u-t-a-w-n-e-y

by Teresa Jennings

Here's a super simple song that features a word that is anything but super simple to say or spell! Unless of course, you're from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. Hopefully, this little ditty will help to reduce any anxiety related spelling episodes at your school when it comes time to celebrate Groundhog Day.

The song itself is, well, like we said, super simple. Its lyrics are basically a slow spelling of the word in question. The tag at the end is its spoken pronunciation. To make it a bit more fun, we have added an optional spoken dialog. Particularly, if you use this piece in performance, this would be a nice introduction. Be sure to pick a kid #2 who can both say and spell the word with great confidence. Our actors on the recording were Avery Huffman and Jonathan Roberts. If you are one who prefers to use our full performance tracks with your singers, we have also created a version of the audio that has kids singing (for reinforcement), but no dialog so you can add your own. You'll find this on the recording (track 34).
