One Hundred Days!

by John Riggio

Believe it or not, it's that time of year again. The one hundredth day of school is upon us! This upbeat tune will have your students counting to 100 by tens, and asks the question: What can you do now that you couldn't do on the first day of school? Not only can your students count to 100 in multiple ways, but it's good to reflect on all that has been learned. Which means that this song is a great reinforcement of cross curricular subjects, mentioning such things as math, history, etc., and of course, music!

The style of the tune is labeled "House Meets Rock," which basically means that it has a quantized four-on-the-floor groove with a number of loops and synths stacked with our rhythm section and electric guitars. You'll want to make use of the Performance/Accompaniment tracks that come with this issue, as the piano/vocal really doesn't do justice to all that's going on. If the notes look a little scary, please know that the tune is simple and repetitive, so learning it by rote is very doable. This is a fun tune we think your youngsters will enjoy!
