¡Hola!

by Teresa Jennings

We are never too young or too old to learn new languages. So even a very simple song like this one could be used for any age group that is interested in knowing how to greet someone in Spanish. We did make it easy so that younger students could manage it, just in case. Plus, it's a great song for starting the day, the class period, the week, etc.

If you want to add a little percussive fun to it, you could do so quite easily. Just let a few students play basic rhythm instruments such as shakers, maracas, cowbells, or tambourines along with the recording. For shakers or maracas, a constant eighth note groove would work nicely. For cowbells and tambourines, quarter notes – constant or otherwise as you prefer – shouldn't be too intimidating. If you only have a few instruments, let students take turns being part of "the band."
