I would use this winter scale song with second grade or higher. I tried to keep it relatively generic, but it's pretty hard for a born-and-bred Iowan to associate winter with anything but cold and snow! A complete four-part Boomwhacker® accompaniment for a scale song is written out in the Idea Bank in the "Thanksgiving Dinner Song". The only difference would be that the meter for the song below is in four instead of two. Pitch changes are indicated below by words in upper case.

WINTER DAYS
(C) WINTER days are getting shorter; NIGHTS are crisp and clear.
SNOW is in the frosty air; we HOPE it's coming here!
COAT and hat and boots and gloves will KEEP me warm and dry,
But if WE don't have a "snow day" soon, I THINK I'm gonna cry!
(C') HOLIDAYS are great with all the PRESENTS and the food,
And CANDLES glowing brightly put us IN a festive mood.
We CELEBRATE our special days with SONGS of joy and mirth,
As we SHARE good will with one and all and WISH for Peace on Earth!
