One thing that I tried to help teach part singing was a little game. When I thought the students knew the song well enough, I said "Now, I'm going to try to mess you up. I'm going to sing something different. Your job is to keep singing together; don't sing with me. But my job is to try to get you to sing with me. Let's see who wins!"

I started them singing the melody, then I began walking around the room singing the round. When they "won," I asked for two or three volunteers to sing with me and mess the class up. Pretty soon, we had two equal groups.
