My 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes love this activity. I divide the class into 2 or 3 teams. The students bring up their rhythm sheets (we make these out the first week of school). I tap out four-beat rhythmic patterns. I award each team a point if the student writes the rhythm correctly. At the end of the class, the team with the most points wins. I hand out some little prize to all the teams. I give out extra to the winning team.
