My 4th grade choir performed The Comet (from Music K-8, Vol. 7, No. 1, also available as a Singles Reproducible Kit) a few years ago. The students found pictures of dinosaurs and comets, and we made color transparencies of them. For the concert, we turned off all the lights. The choir sat on the risers, and the transparencies were shown on a screen we had on stage. Our high school SADD chapter let us borrow their fog machine, so we had the stage all foggy and mysterious. During the explosion part, we turned off the overhead projector and three or four students turned flashlights on and off in the foggy darkness. The ending was sung in complete darkness.

It was very impressive and easy to do. The wonderful music, of course, is what makes it all possible.
