A good form of classroom management that I have found actually teaches them as they are being "punished" for their behavior. I tell them to put their eyes on the clock, and they are to watch the steady beat tick. They are not allowed to say a word, and they cannot take their eyes off the clock.
Do this for about 4-5 minutes, and they know that you are serious about what you want to get accomplished. While it's utterly boring to them, they are still learning without knowing it!
