I have very few actual Orff instruments with removable bars, but I have a class set of inexpensive chromatic glockenspiels. Younger students can enjoy making beautiful pentatonic music using just the black keys on the non-Orff glockenspiels. They can improvise, improve their mallet skills, and practice steady beat in this very satisfying pentatonic activity. I improvise with chords on the piano black keys as an accompaniment as they play along. Easy on the ears and satisfying.
