Another variation for a backdrop is to do full-size silhouettes (using an overhead projector) of your students cut out of black construction paper. The students can pose in a variety of positions, and it is fun when they know some of their own classmates are hung up on the wall! They can even be holding things out to the side like a drum or maraca. We did this for a community dance and it added a lot.
