I have students who will not get to black belt this year. I only require my students to go to purple belt, and this will be a challenge for some of them. I allow my students to go at their own pace. I don't try to keep the whole class on the same belt. I find that this allows the kids who really like the recorder to enjoy it even more. In the past, I was losing these kids because they were getting bored. They didn't like having to wait for the unmotivated students to catch up. Recorder Karate has helped the unmotivated students to take more interest in the recorders. They don't like being left behind especially when they see that the majority of the class is earning all of their belts.
