to the tune of "October, Rocktober" from Music K-8, Vol. 13, No. 1
by Ms. Sandra Brown-Price, Josh Penton, Bobby Pursley, Kayla Cagnolatti, Mrs. Pam Hotard
Some folks like potatoes. Some like dressing, too.
Others like tomatoes. And candy yams for you.
(boys:) Cause I'm a turkey guy. (girls:) He's a turkey guy.
(boys:) I'm a gumbo guy. (girls:) He's a gumbo guy.
(boys:) I like cranberry sauce. (girls:) He likes cranberry sauce.
(all:) And sweet potato pie.
chorus: Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving. My fav'rite time of year.
Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving. My fav'rite time of year.
Some folks like it roasted. Some folks like it fried.
Others like it blackened. Just don't make it dry.

My students at Slidell Pathways did not want to give up the song "October, Rocktober" just because it was a new month, so we changed the words to a Thanksgiving theme. It also reflects the culture of Louisiana as Slidell is 30 miles north of New Orleans; fried and blackened turkeys are common down here.
