I use the tune of "Charlie Over The Ocean" as my "get in line" song, and I embellish it more and more every year. I do have individual pieces of tape for all my students to stand on so they do not to bump into each other and to space them out evenly. We sing:
Show me that you're ready (they echo)Toes on tape (echo)
Hands by your side (echo)
Facing front (echo)
Time to stop you're talkin' (echo)
Soon we'll be walkin' (echo)
See you on Monday (echo)
Good-bye 1st grade (Good-bye Mrs. Lukow!)
The words change according to the day of the week and the grade level singing.
