Recently our school was celebrating "Right To Read" week, and the committee asked me to teach the students a song to kick off our celebration. Of course, I started with Music K-8. Unable to find anything right away, I decided to write my own words to a song in the current issue. My song is entitled, "Read, Read, Read." It is to the tune of "Green Green Green" found in Music K-8, Vol. 14, No. 4. What a hit! Thank you Music K-8. Here are my words:

Chorus

Read Read Read. Let's read something today.
Grab a book, a magazine, or anything.
Read Read Read.

Verses

Read of a spider who spun a cool web,
read of a boy who had a very bad day.
Read of a dog named Winn Dixie,
read of Jack and Annie and their mys'tries today.
Matt Christopher writes great books about sports,
animals made Eric Carle number one.
Beverly Clearly had a friend named Ramona,
Dr. Seuss taught us that reading can be fun.
Read a novel, read a poem,
read the newspaper or an article from one.
Read a chapter book or one with a few words.
Just read something you like for fun!
