Here's a fun game to get to know your new class:
Materials needed - One large ball of string and children
Children sit in a circle (preferably on chairs). You need to tell them that they must stay in their seat throughout the course of the game.
Someone starts by holding the end of the string and calling the name of another child. They then throw the ball still holding onto the end. The child whose name was called (and now has the ball of string) calls out another name and throws it to that child, but still holding on to their end. This keeps going until a web is made with the crossing of the string.
Now for the fun bit. The students have to undo the web - working backwards - calling out names as before - each child winding their bit of string as it unravels.
