In the past, when transferring to a new school, I have asked the main office for a school yearbook. It helped me to see the students before the start of the school year. I could also see what activities the students had participated in! :) - Lani Meshanko

I love the yearbook, too! I make sure I buy a yearbook every year. I study it in the summer to try to learn some more names at our 1100-student school.

I have to hand in my grade book, so I transfer some of the information to their picture in the spring. By their picture I put their recorder color, comments on who is up to pitch, or great at rhythms or steady beats in the younger grade levels. Then I transfer it to new class lists in the fall. I also write the new teacher's name by their picture to help with studying names and remembering when doing grades. - Linda from Florida
