Every summer, I set up three or four dates for a "Tweet and Eat." (I send the dates home before school is out.) All students in grades three through five are invited. We meet out on the playground, between 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., under the tree and bring our recorders and lunch. I bring blankets to sit on, a boombox, and CDs for music. (I had 16 kids show up!) We play recorders for a while, eat lunch, and then play recorders until time is up. Today, I had some students who wanted to test for belts and even had an upcoming seventh grader come with her brother. (She brought her recorders and flute to play along with us.) It's a lot of fun, easy to set up, and helps to keep the recorder alive.
