I made it a goal a few years ago to do informances with my first grade classes. I prepared a written lesson plan to distribute to the parents, detailing the conceptual basis for each activity. That way, we could all sing, dance, play instruments, etc., and not interrupt the flow of the concert. On the back side of the lesson plan, I reprinted an article from Why Music Ed about research that supports music education.
