Brush, Brush, Brush

by David & Anne Ellsworth

This rhythmic life skills tune will be sending your primary kids to the sink and reaching for the toothpaste! The recording is thick with punctuated rhythms that emulate motion to inspire them to mimic brushing and flossing action. There are suggested movements throughout the tune to help with your performance options, too. Of course, you can let your students suggest their own ideas for movement as well. Use them in addition to or instead of the ones we provide. We do recommend that actions are just "pretend," not actually using toothbrushes or floss during the song, especially if you let them jump or dance. Though you could have some on hand to do a bit of "show and tell" for cross curricular discussion of dental health and hygiene. We think this will be a nice song to add to your arsenal of primary teaching tunes. (Check out "Life Skills" in our print or online Index at MusicK8.com for more ideas along these lines.)
