Just Call Me Ed

by Karl Hitzemann

In the spirit of songs like "John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt," we bring you "Just Call Me Ed" - a song about a man burdened with a name that no one can seem to remember. And that name is:

Ed Boomdeeclitcheeknorkborkneehausen.

Don't be intimidated by singing about such a long name. It breaks down fairly easily: Boom-dee-clitch, eek-nork, bork-nee-hausen. You could repeat these phrases over and over with your kids, practicing each one separately and then stringing it all together. Honestly, our singers picked it up very quickly. Of course, the funny part is that, in the song, the name they have trouble remembering is... Ed. Listen to the performance track to get an excellent idea of how it should go. Our performers did a great job. (Thanks, Ben and Dawson!)

Our accompaniment track for this song has a real nice polka-esque sound to it. It features a rhythm section, clarinet, tuba, and accordion. We have also provided a playable piano part with guitar chords if you would prefer to do a "live" performance. However you choose to do it, be sure to have fun with it. You could even have a contest to see who can say "Boomdeeclitcheeknork-borkneehausen" the fastest!
