Howdy!

by Teresa & Paul Jennings

We can just hear this tune cranking through the halls of schools everywhere as students enter in the morning and greet each other in a positive and upbeat way! The swinging jazz arrangement inspires smiles, and the call and response vocal lines invite participation from everyone. Even your youngest singers will pick this one up very quickly. It's short, it's simple, and it's catchy.

We have included commonly known and used terms for greeting, but if you have any you'd like to substitute, go right ahead. And of course, you don't have to use this only in the mornings. Any time there is a greeting - to each other, to teachers, to other students, to visiting guests - is appropriate.

One small reminder: The "h" in the Spanish word "hola" is silent. (Do your students know other foreign words they could also use in this song?)
