Viva Valentine!

by Teresa Jennings

This lively Latin tune will give your students the opportunity to open up and have at it! Written as a call and response, the song is extremely simple both lyrically and melodically.

Divide your students into two groups. Be sure you have some "leaders" in each group to help keep things moving along. Let students sing along with the full version on the recording to learn the song. Even your youngest should catch on quickly. In no time, you will be letting them fly solo with just the tracks.

Feel free to add movement to the song for added excitement. For example, have performers hold large Valentines and move them around in a specific manner rhythmically. Change the movements for the verses and the choruses, as you wish. Keep it simple and easily memorized. Red, white, and/or pink outfits or decorations would make the Valentine theme complete, if you're using the song in performance.
