My Little Dreidl

by Teresa Jennings

This simple song is a round. Any of your students should be able to learn it quickly and easily, though you may wish to use it with your younger students.

While the theme suggests the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, it doesn't specifically say so. Consequently, you should feel comfortable using it as a secular programming feature.

On the P/A cassette, you will hear a light arrangement including guitars, mandolin, bass, piano, bells and antique cymbals only. If you are not using the cassette, consider adding your own embellishments to the piano. You could have the bell part played on glocks or xylos. Bass bars could play a C every 2 measures. You could have the chord strummed every measure or two on autoharp. Have your students come up with other ostinato ideas.
