Working Together

by Tom & Lynn Crowell

This song is all about working together, or as we all know it, teamwork. We've all had challenges and struggles trying to do things ourselves. There's nothing wrong with getting help. Many hands make lighter tasks. Or if you see someone else struggling, offer to help. Helping someone in need, working together with them is a beautiful thing. It also makes you feel good, so it's a "win-win" situation.

This up-tempo rock 'n' roll song with the "Jerry Lee Lewis" boogie-woogie style piano will get your kids moving. Make sure they keep up the energy, especially in the chorus. Speaking of the chorus, a song about teamwork wouldn't be quite the same without a harmony vocal. Indeed, when performing in a musical group, one often gets that magical aesthetically pleasing moment when the parts all come together. When the performers are listening closely enough to each other to achieve that perfect balance, everyone gets goosebumps! So we do encourage your students to give the optional part 2 a try. It's a simple repetitive harmony that should be easy to learn. As Aristotle says, "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." We do have an isolated track for part 2 on our web site.
