Veterans, We're So Proud Of You

by Karl Hitzemann

"Veterans, We're So Proud Of You" is, of course, a natural for Veterans Day (November 11), but it could really be used anytime you want to pay tribute to those who have served our country. The fact is, these true American heroes should be honored at every opportunity we get. If you have any veterans or anyone currently serving in the military in your audience, consider asking them to stand so that they can be recognized for their service. It would be a nice thing to do either before or after performing the song.

The piece itself sounds very patriotic. The recorded accompaniment features a full orchestra with military snare drums, timpani, cymbals, and chimes. This is a case where singing along with the recording will really add to the impact of a performance. It should be sung with great respect and honor, which will give extra meaning to the lyrics that speak of all the reasons why we are so very proud of our veterans.

There is an optional second vocal part that will also add to the grandeur. To help your singers learn the second part, an isolated rehearsal track is available on our web site.

By the way, we are including this song for Veterans Day in the first issue of the year instead of the second. We wanted to be sure you had plenty of time to prepare for your Veterans Day program.
