Go Be Awesome

by Teresa & Paul Jennings

We look at this short, punchy, driving piece as more of a cheer than a song. And as with cheers, if you like it, you can do it over and over again. Also as with cheers, its message is motivational and inspirational. Though it's perfect for those year-end ceremonies like graduation or just plain "moving on," it could be used any time you want to shine a light on your students' awesomeness!

Set in a very jazzy hard shuffle, it makes the extreme pulse easy to feel and punctuate vocally. This is one where we suggest letting your singers use their chest voices to really belt it out. Especially from bar 15 to 16, this will help the push into the "yeah!" come off with the proper exuberance. Give a listen to our singers on the Performance/Accompaniment recording to hear how well it works.

Speaking of the recording, we would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge Paul's fabulous work on the big band jazz arrangement for this one. Talk about awesome!
