Rainy Day

by Teresa Jennings

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all remember a time when we were very young and rain wasn't such a negative thing? It seems that nowadays, a forecast for rain can bring on the doldrums in no time. Mind you, if you've been enduring a season of floods, that's understandable. But a regular ol' rainy day – especially in the spring – can be refreshing and replenishing. After all, like the song says, everyone needs water.

The happy-go-lucky style of the song is amplified by the use of ukulele and guitar strumming, not to mention the optional whistling kids get to do. We kept it very simple so even young singers could join in. Plus, we're hoping that teaching youngsters that rain can be a positive thing is a worthwhile goal. Rain is not necessarily bad. It's just wet! Now go splash around in a puddle and have some fun, wouldja?
