I find the Music K-8 Subject Index very helpful. For ease in teaching, I follow the Subject Index and compile songs per theme or concept. For example, a February list would have all Valentine, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and One Hundredth Day songs. We end each class with a song, and most often it is one or two of their favorites from the theme of the month!
