Here are a couple of things I did with My Many Colored Days.

With K-1: We used scarves as I read the book, and when they heard their color and the description that accompanied it, they moved their scarves to demonstrate the mood. We'll do it again with parts of the film.

With 1-5: Give each child a sheet of drawing paper. As they watch the film (I didn't tell them too much about it ahead of time.), have them create designs, draw pictures, or write words to help them remember the film. I did this for about ten minutes per class for four classes. It was amazing to see what the students created. Some of my older students want to do it again this year!
