After Easter you can get the plastic eggs for cheap. I got 48 eggs for a dollar at Wal-Mart.
Have students fill them 1/3 of the way full with rice. Tape them shut with clear packing tape. Put a few funny face stickers on them. They can be stored by class in egg crates.
They are great to keep beat and make patterns with to songs like "El Barquito." My K's and 1st grades love this. The older grades did, too.
