When my younger students are coming into my classroom with a little more activity than normal, I will sing "Criss Cross and Quiet." They are to repeat on pitch, sit criss cross, and get ready for the next pitch. It works everytime. I've even had classroom teachers say they wished they could sing so the children would respond so quickly to them.
