Question: We're doing a holiday sing-along the last day before Christmas vacation. Does anyone have some ideas that have been really awesome. We're also using a Peace theme. Any ideas or favorites would be appreciated.

Answer: We have had a sing-along on the last day before Christmas for many years. It was something I started and now can't get out of. Everyone loves it. The teachers participate by performing. Sometimes I have people from the community come in and perform for the students. Our yearly favorite is The Twelve Days Of Christmas. The students sing it while the teachers and older students act it out. When the male teachers and older male students come in as lords a-leaping, everyone just roars.

Another favorite are two teachers who tell and act out The Night Before Christmas. Last year, several of the teachers worked up a skit about "Every time you hear a bell, an angel gets its wings." Our principal played the angel. He wore a white robe complete with a gold halo. It was quite a hit. Interspersed between these different acts are the sing-along songs everyone participates in. The parents look forward to our yearly sing-along, as well as the students. It is just a fun time for everyone.
