We've been doing Forte Piano (from Music K-8, Vol. 13, No. 1), and last week I introduced Dweller Of The Cave (from Music K-8, Vol. 5, No. 1, also available as a Singles Reproducible Kit). It is a perfect follow-up to Forte Piano as there are many opportunities for crescendo.
We sing the chant at the beginning in "scary piano" voices, we sing the 4 times repeated part at the end as ff, f, p, pp... a great way to use what we learned in Forte Piano - and the kids love it. They are studying mysteries in their classroom so I told them this song is a mystery. They keep talking about what is in the cave and I say, "It is a mystery."
