I'm doing O Whacky Christmas Tree (from Music K-8, Vol. 13, No. 2) with my Special Ed classes (1st - 5th) and never gave them the music. They learned the melody by rote and have assigned Boomwhackers® to play, instead of potluck. (We are not doing the second part this time.) I watched and listened for the students who could do the different rhythms correctly and assigned them that Boomwhacker® for the program. I will be there to direct them (and play the A since it is only there once), but they learned it quite well by rote.
