I show Riverdance every year, and we have a discussion on that form of Irish Dance. We look at posture, steps, etc. Then I play Battlefield Band (a Scottish band), and we make up our own irish dance. "An Irish Dance" (from Music K-8, Vol. 7, No. 4; also available as a Singles Reproducible Kit), which I have used before, included a dance.
My students really enjoyed coming up with their own dances, and a greater appreciation of that art form was realized.
