To reinforce the concept of time signatures, I cut out different colored leaves with a die-cutter machine and also draw trees with about four or five branches onto brown paper. On each tree, I put a different time signature and have my students work in groups of three or four to draw notes on the leaves, so that each branch has the right amount of beats to fit the tree's time signature. Each branch is like a measure. The kids love it and it really makes for a beautiful way to decorate the hallways in the fall!
