For years I struggled with a way to keep chairs and/or students in a straight line when seated in my classroom. I tried every conceivable form of tape imaginable, but all of them left hard to clean up residue or just wouldn't stay in place! Since I have carpet, I ordered a few 25-yard rolls of Velcro brand hook-sided strip. I cut it to the lengths I needed and placed it in three rows on the floor, hook side down. Now when my kids are sitting in chairs, all I have to say is, "Chairs on lines, please." When students are sitting on the floor and pick on the lines (which they will inevitably do), all I have to do is put it back, and it's like it never left. Using Velcro for staff lines on the floor also works very well. Students can use a beanbag to toss at the staff and name the correct note. The rolls come in several different colors.
