I needed a sound story so I wrote one. I only used two characters, a leprechaun and a four-leaf clover. Feel free to add more characters if you want to make it more complex. Give students an instrument to play when they hear those words.

Once, there was a jolly leprechaun who lived in Ireland. The leprechaun lived alone but had a very special four-leaf clover who was his only friend. The leprechaun took that four-leaf clover everywhere! He felt the only way he had good luck is to keep the four-leaf clover with him at all times.

One day, the jolly leprechaun went out into the village of Greenville to hear some Irish music. Of course, the four-leaf clover was right along with him as they listened to the people singing, "I'm looking over a four-leaf clover that I overlooked before." This was his favorite song, and he listened to it everyday. The leprechaun was listening to the music and dancing along, and didn't see that the four-leaf clover had fallen out of his pocket. He went on his jolly way back to his house, but the four-leaf clover stayed in the village amidst all the people.

When the leprechaun got home, he decided to fix himself some Irish stew for dinner. He got out all the ingredients and then remembered that he hadn't taken his four-leaf clover out of his pocket yet. The leprechaun dug deep in his pockets but couldn't find anything! Oh no! Where had his only four-leaf clover gone? He must have left him in the village!

Then the leprechaun's doorbell rang, "Ding! Dong!" and he went to see who it was. Why, it was the Mayor of Greenville with something in his hand. And what do you think the mayor had found? None other than the four-leaf clover, safe and sound!

"Oh, thank you dear Mayor!," the leprechaun exclaimed. He couldn't believe that his four-leaf clover had found his way back home. He knew that his luck had not run out, and they all lived happily ever after!
